When Lucas Paqueta agrees to terms, West Ham is unable to oppose Man City’s approach.

Football Insider has received information from sources who suggest West Ham will be unable to withstand Manchester City’s summer attempt for star player Lucas Paqueta.

The Brazilian international may leave the London Stadium if the Citizens meet his £85 million release clause under his contract.

On May 21, Football Insider disclosed that Paqueta had already agreed to personal terms and was considered one of the top candidates to replace Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Football Insider said that Silva is eager to secure a move overseas, and the 29-year-old is reportedly ready for a fresh challenge. PSG is considering making another offer for the Portuguese player this summer.

Before talks were put on hold due to an FA betting probe, Paqueta was on the verge of joining the Premier League champions in 2018.

If the 26-year-old is found not guilty of any crimes, the Citizens are anticipated to try to sign him once more when the transfer window reopens.

Man City have agreed terms with Lucas Paqueta

Paqueta and Man City reached a personal terms agreement last summer, but the inquiry halted communication between the two teams.

The Brazilian signed a five-year contract when he joined West Ham in a club-record £51 million deal from Lyon in 2022, and he is now under contract there until 2027.

Since David Moyes left the Irons before securing another European campaign, Paqueta is reportedly eager to play Champions League football.

Following Football Insider’s revelation earlier this month that the club had made him a “enormous” deal to become their new manager, Julen Lopetegui is poised to take the Scotsman’s place.

In other news, there is worry of an Irons midfielder leaving.
