Newcastle plot double swoop for Jarrod Bowen and Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton and Jarrod Bowen of West Ham are the targets of a double deal that Newcastle United is preparing, as both players have been heavily involved in recruitment talks.

Newcastle is aware that both transactions will be costly and time-consuming, and that they will have to sell players in order to raise the money needed for this summer’s hiring.

However, there is real interest in both players, and this summer, they are both said to be on a very short list of targets.

The Newcastle hierarchy has always been interested in Bowen and think highly of him. This summer, Newcastle’s top goal is to sign a right winger; Michael Olise of Crystal Palace is another player they have their eye on. Newcastle fears they will lose out on the dynamic 22-year-old, though, since Manchester United is also a longtime fan of Olise. Newcastle is aware that there are many other clubs interested in Olise.

The second man they have explored for the right wing position is Bowen, who forced his way into the England group last season after scoring 20 goals for West Ham.

According to Telegraph Sport, Newcastle has previously inquired about the wide forward and was informed by West Ham that he was not for sale.

West Ham will not want to lose the England international this summer, but with manager David Moyes gone, Bowen might be persuaded to make the switch. On Thursday, Julen Lopetegui was named as Moyes’ replacement.

When Bowen, 27, left Hull City four years ago, he was eager to join Newcastle and had already verbally agreed to sign with Steve Bruce until the team’s previous owner, Mike Ashley, stated in January 2020 that they could not afford the £22 million fee. Newcastle plans to look into a deal, even though it would easily cost them three times as much to sign him this summer.

Since Callum Wilson is anticipated to depart and clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in the England international, Calvert-Lewin has been monitored over the past two years and would be a suitable replacement for the 32-year-old.

Wilson must be sold first, though, as Calvert-Lewin is highly regarded and the hiring team is confident manager Eddie Howe will extract more from the 27-year-old.

Despite his injury issues, the striker appeared in 38 games for Everton last season, and Newcastle believes that with Howe leading a more adventurous squad, he will score significantly more goals.

In the summer transfer window, Newcastle is still looking to add a custodian, and Giorgi Mamardashvili of Valencia and Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal are the two players they have on their radar.
