“A tremendous privilege,” said town McKenna after winning the LMA Manager of the Year title.

Ipswich Town: Kieran McKenna wins LMA Manager of the Year award

Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, has been named the Championship Manager of the Year and winner of the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for LMA Manager of the Year.

The Northern Irishman, who won the EFL’s Championship Manager of the Year award at the end of last month, has drawn a lot of plaudits for leading the Blues to the Premier League in their first season back in the Championship.

He has now won the LMA Manager of the Year title by defeating some of the top managers in the nation. Only seven people have won it for seasons that did not take place in the Premier League; Chris Wilder, who led Sheffield United to automatic promotion in 2019, was the most recent to do so. Only Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola have won it since then.

Guardiola won the Premier League with Manchester City for the fourth time in a row over the weekend, but it wasn’t enough to win this year’s trophy. Conversely, McKenna is the first Town manager to win it since George Burley did it in 2001.

To make up for losing out to Steven Schumacher in League One for the divisional prize the previous season, McKenna was also awarded the LMA Championship Manager of the Year title.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the former manager of Manchester United and winner of the first-ever LMA Manager of the Year award in 1994, was present at tonight’s 32nd annual presentation to give McKenna his trophy.

According to the Ipswich website, McKenna stated, “It’s an incredible honour.”

It is made much more significant by the names of the past winners and the fact that other managers voted for it.

It’s a really proud occasion, and I would like to express my gratitude to all of the people at Ipswich Town who have contributed to this incredible and historic season, including the board, employees, fans, and players.

“In addition, I would like to express my gratitude to my family for their unwavering support throughout the years of arduous labor and sacrifice that have led me to this point in my career.”
