Tottenham identify Conor Gallagher and Timo Werner as ‘transfer priorities’

Conor Gallagher and Timo Werner have been identified by Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou as his “transfer priorities” for the forthcoming summer, the Mirror reports.

Despite having a great start to the season, Tottenham finished fifth in the standings and was two points outside of a Champions League berth. But Daniel Levy will help Postecoglou restructure the team during the transfer window.

The Australian has made no secret of the fact that the team still has “work to do,” calling Tottenham’s foundations “fragile” following the side’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City last week.

He was quoted by the BBC as saying this:

“I believe we still have some work to do, as I stated at the time (after the City loss). We should concentrate on that since it is obvious and straightforward.

Gallagher and Werner are reportedly “priorities” for Tottenham, who have already announced their summertime goals. This information comes from the Mirror. In order to make way for new players, the Spurs may also approve up to five departures in the upcoming weeks, including the departures of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma.

Gallagher and Werner decisions due soon

The Chelsea contract of Gallagher expires the next year. The Blues may let him go this summer in order to alleviate their liability for a potential Financial Fair Play violation and to prevent losing him for free in 2025.

According to the Mirror, Tottenham has a “long-standing interest” in the Englishman and would “re-enter” the competition for his contract if Chelsea did decide to trade him.

Spurs will surely be involved in the mix to take advantage of any potential opportunity when Stamford Bridge makes a choice, which is expected sooner rather than later. On Transfermarkt, Gallagher is valued at £41 million.

They’ll also need to sign a striker, and Postecoglou and Daniel Levy will decide if the team will pay the approximate £14.6 million buyout option for Werner.

The story also states that the north Londoners have until June 14th to decide whether to sign the German marksman. Werner’s loan period was cut short due to a hamstring injury, despite his early success.
