Eddie Howe responds to Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes ‘waving goodbye’ to Newcastle fans

Eddie Howe has downplayed rumors that Bruno Guimaraes “waved goodbye” to Newcastle United supporters during their victory against Brentford, despite the midfielder being sought by Manchester City and Arsenal.

In west London, the Magpies defeated the opposition 4–2 to close out their Premier League campaign. Guimaraes was instrumental in the win, setting up two goals and scoring one himself late in the game.

The Brazil international appeared a touch emotional as he waved and gestured to the traveling Newcastle supporters after the game.

A £100 million release clause in Guimaraes’s contract is set to expire next month, and it’s said that both champions City and runners-up Arsenal are mulling a move for the player.

Howe, meanwhile, urged supporters not to interpret Guimaraes’ gesture at the conclusion of the game too literally and expressed optimism that the player will still play for Newcastle the next season.

When asked if Guimaraes’ action was a wave goodbye, Howe responded, “I don’t think so.” Bruno most likely does it frequently, but it could be construed so that viewers come to that conclusion.

I sincerely hope it isn’t, from my perspective. We are fighting to keep him because he is motivating and essential to what we’re doing.

Alexander Isak, a striker, has also been linked to a move; Howe described the two as “two outstanding players.”

“They can make a difference and have made a difference many times,” I have stated multiple times this season.

It’s always about the group and how they work together. They have a great platform to play on thanks to the team, and their participation in today’s goals was excellent, but they also need to be recognized for the support of their teammates.
