Club contacts Crystal Palace player about signing Although a “unknown name” to some, the filmmaker is obviously a big fan.

The Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta and Napoli had formal talks, according to a report published by L’Equipe on Tuesday.

After Oliver Glasner was named manager by the Eagles in February, the striker managed 13 goals and one assist from 13 games, finishing the season with 19 goals and five assists.

Juventus has now entered the transfer pursuit after his impressive performances for Crystal Palace have attracted the eye of the Serie A team.

At least according to Tutto Juve, who also say that the Turin team has contacted someone—possibly the 26-year-old’s camp—to inquire about a potential transfer.

The website, which primarily covers Juventus, has also issued a statement to supporters. They claim that while the Frenchman may be a “unknown name” to them, Cristiano Giuntoli, the club’s technical director, is not.

Mateta first came to Crystal Palace from Mainz 05 on loan in 2021, and a year later his spell in London was extended permanently.

Giuntoli has reportedly been closely studying the striker since his stint in Germany, according to Tutto Juve. This demonstrates that the director of Juventus has long admired the Crystal Palace player.

His contract lasts until 2026 and there’s no mention whether Mateta or Crystal Palace are open to doing business, if Juve move to sign him in the summer window.
