Rangers urged to sign SPFL star
Michael Stewart, a former Scotland international and Rangers youth prospect, has pushed the team to sign Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland this summer.
The Scottish analyst stated on BBC Sportsound on Saturday, May 18, 2024, that the signing would be a “no-brainer” for the Gers because he is “far better” than Cyriel Dessers, the team’s current number nine.
The Light Blues are planning a double swoop to sign Shankland and current loanee Abdallah Sima on permanent deals ahead of next season, according to a February report from Football Insider.
The publication did not, however, specify at the time how much Hearts would be willing to pay the Gers for their talented center-forward.
According to Football Insider, Rangers were priced out of a move at the time because the SPFL team reportedly sought a fee of around £3 million for him during the January transfer window.
