Celtic break Rangers hearts as Amy Gallagher nets dramatic winner to secure first ever SWPL title.

After defeating Hibs in the closing moments, the Hoops have won their first-ever SWPL championship. After Amy Gallagher broke Rangers’ hearts with a stunning last-minute winner, Celtic won the SWPL for the first time ever.

Knowing they just needed to defeat Hibs at Parkhead to win their first-ever SWPL title, the Hoops began the afternoon at the top of the table based on goal differential.

Rangers defeated Partick Thistle at home, but Elena Sadiku’s team nearly suffered final day pain for the second year in a row due to a nerve-wracking display.

The Ibrox Women were just minutes away from pulling off an incredible title victory, so Jo Potter’s team had to defeat the Jaguars and pray that their Old Firm opponents faltered just fifteen miles away.

As Hibs persisted in frustrating the hosts, the scoreline produced a tense environment at Celtic Park. When Gallagher scored her 50th goal of the season in the final minutes to seal the title, Celtic finally gave the 7,624 spectators something to cheer about.

This led to wild celebrations at full time.
