At the beginning of the season, Clement Lenglet was signed by Aston Villa on a loan from Barcelona.
After his loan period expires, the 28-year-old defender—who has been a valuable member of the team—will return to his native club.
In an effort to compete successfully in the UEFA Champions League the next season, Aston Villa’s director of football Damia Vidagany has stated to MARCA that the West Midlands team is currently getting ready for a busy transfer window.
In regards to Lenglet, he stated: “I believe he is on par with any center-back in the Spanish La Liga, but he has an impressive season and has a one-year loan with no buyout option.”
It would be intriguing to see if they can sufficiently bolster the roster by adding quality players during the summer transfer window. To compete effectively in the Champions League the following season, they will require superior players. In order to succeed in numerous contests, they will want a more robust team as they have more games ahead of them.
Whether they can add top-notch defenders in the summer is still to be seen. Lengelt will also need to be replaced.
Clement Lenglet needs to leave Barcelona
During the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old central defender hopes to finalise his permanent departure from Barcelona. It is obvious that he has no future at the Spanish club, and he should sign up for a team where he can make consistent payments.
Where he goes from here is yet unknown. There is no doubt that the French international will have plenty of suitors this summer because he has the talent to compete at the greatest level.
Aston Villa has, however, shown signs of weakness in the back at times this season. It will be interesting to see if they can close these holes in their roster before the start of the next campaign.
