Aston Villa director in strong defence of Unai Emery – Had enough at lack of respect

Aston Villa’s director of football operations Damià Vidagany has hailed Unai Emery as one of the best managers in the world.

After leading them to the Champions League in his first full season in charge, the Spanish manager has been the subject of conversations between the director of Aston Villa and Marca.

Since November 2022, Emery has been in command of Villa Park. The team was afraid of being relegated from the Premier League when he took over for Steven Gerrard.

But such worries have long since subsided as the former Villarreal manager has guided the team to 44 victories in 82 games across all competitions thus far.

Aston Villa qualified for the Europa Conference League last season and, for the first time in forty-two years, for the Champions League this season because to their outstanding results under his leadership.

Emery has received recognition for being the driving force behind Villa’s recent ascent, and Vidagany feels it’s about time his native country gave him more dignity.

“Unfortunately, Emery’s heritage does not lead to everything becoming a meme in Spain,” he remarked.

Rafa Nadal has come under fire in Spain for clearing mud after floods. Spain is a notoriously impolite country, with some people believing they can make fun of anyone.

“He is currently one of the seven or eight coaches in the world with the amount of titles he has won. In every club he has attended, he has consistently met his objectives. In Spain, coaching Barça seems to be out of the question for someone who wasn’t raised in the Barcelona culture, or someone who experienced Real Madrid, which greatly enhanced their reputation.

“He will succeed and be universally acknowledged for the value that he possesses if he ever ends up at either of the two clubs.”
