“Absolutely embarrassing” – Mark Goldbridge reacts after hearing Man Utd want to sign £100m star

Ollie Watkins, a striker for Aston Villa, has been linked to Manchester United. The United Stand host Mark Goldbridge called the rumour “embarrassing,” implying that the England international wouldn’t want to move to Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund, a teenage striker, was acquired by United from Atalanta during the previous summer transfer window, and he has been an important player for Erik ten Hag this season. Hojlund has been thrown into the deep end at Old Trafford, while Anthony Martial, whose contract expires later this year, has spent a significant amount of the year in the treatment room.

Targeting a center-forward could be Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s top objective this summer. The Danish international has had periods of regular production in front of goal this season, and there’s little doubt that United’s attack could use more competition and rotation.

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins celebrating

According to a talkSPORT source from Wednesday morning, United is preparing a “audacious” summer transfer window raid to grab Aston Villa forward Watkins. Ratcliffe wants to bring in another center-forward to Old Trafford to assist in developing Hojlund.

Presenter Goldbridge called the revelation “embarrassing,” implying that United lacks the funds to pay £100 million on a striker and asserting that Watkins would not be interested in joining the Red Devils.

“I apologise to Villa supporters for the embarrassing Watkins to United story that has gone viral. As if we had £100 million to spend on the league’s top English striker and entice him with a leaky stadium when all we had was a vision and Champions League football.”

It’s unclear if Watkins would cost £100 million, but it doesn’t seem likely that Villa would be prepared to let him go. The Midlands team recently earned a spot in the Champions League, and Watkins has been a major contributor to their success this year. Given his age, Unai Emery’s side’s demand amount is probably going to be too much for United to pay.

Bruno Fernandes ‘Set to Stay’ at Man Utd

He’s been linked with a departure

David Ornstein asserted on The Athletic’s Daily Briefing podcast that Bruno Fernandes and United met to talk about his future, with the Portuguese midfielder requesting to know their goals. It has already been confirmed by the esteemed writer that he will be spending the summer at Old Trafford.

Although there have been rumours that Fernandes is drawing interest before the next transfer window opens, it appears that INEOS and United will make every effort to keep him in the team.
