Newcastle hold private talks with Toon stars ahead of huge summer

Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are expected to stay with the club this summer, according to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph.

In his most recent story, the North-East correspondent adds that our owners have taken a ‘defiant’ approach towards the pair, with Toon officials also having private conversations with both, who have offered the club encouragement.

Our Saudi-backed owners do not want rival clubs to cherry-pick our best players at a critical moment of our development, but it is understood that this will not deter Arsenal, Manchester City, PSG, and others from increasing their interest this summer.

During this morning’s news conference, Eddie Howe stated that he sees both players staying with the club next season, adding that our ambitious owners have no intention of losing our finest players ahead of a critical summer and 2024/25 campaign.

During the press conference on Friday, Howe delivered a clear message about their future. “I do believe they [Bruno and Isak] will be here next season.” He said. “I intend for them to be here. Yeah, I do all my planning with the squad. I’m not sure why [clubs thinking they can buy them] is so significant or in the headlines.

“I think for us, we’re seeking to build a squad and a highly successful team, and we don’t want to sell our top players. That is extremely essential for us; it will set us back a significant distance since we will have to start over.

There is no vulnerability in the club to suggest we will sell anyone. Of course, financial fair play exists, and we will have to conform just like everyone else. That’s why I predicted this summer would be impossible to anticipate. However, no one at the football club wants to sell our finest players.

When asked about Isak’s reaction to allegations of interest, Howe responded: “Judging by Alex’s performances and training, and just how he is day to day, I don’t see him thinking about those things or dealing with those rumours.”

“It is business as usual. When you’re in his position and he’s scoring goals, you become used to people talking about you and potentially spreading things that are real or not, I’m not sure.

“For us, we’re just focused on our future with Alex, and we’re trying to grow our team around him. He is going to be an important part of our future.

“We signed him knowing he was young, and we wanted to develop his talents and give him an opportunity to show what he could do. For me, that was a long-term adventure, hopefully, and I’ve only watched him flourish this year.

“I think he’s enjoyed the environment, he’s enjoyed the team that he’s played in and I hope he does that for many years to come.”
