Unai Emery now urges Monchi to make Aston Villa bid for £8 million player

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has pushed Monchi, the club’s head of football operations, to make an offer for a 30-year-old player who he believes would be a “key” summer addition.

Villa pursues Europe as Monchi begins summer transfer preparations.

Following Thursday night’s sad night in Greece, where Olympiacos clinched their place in the Conference League final at Villa’s expense, Emery has begged with his team to get back on track as they face Liverpool on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will play with little pressure at Villa Park, knowing they are out of the Premier League championship race. They hope to end their manager’s memorable reign on a good note.

The Reds will represent a serious challenge for Villa, as they try to seal fourth place and qualification for the Champions League after Emery’s spectacular first full season in charge.

“Each day is going to be very important because some players are with a small injury, having pain and there’s not a date when they will come back,” Emery remarked on team news before Liverpool.

“Like Zaniolo, he’s near, but he won’t be able to play until he feels comfortable with his suffering. Hopefully, he can make progress. Tielemans is near; Álex Moreno has a minor injury and may be available in a few days.

Securing a position in international football’s most prestigious competition would offer Villa considerable bargaining power when the summer transfer window reopens, as the club and transfer manager Monchi have already begun work on new signings for next season.

Villa are reportedly in talks to sign Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer from Leicester City this week. Emery may also attempt to enhance his defensive options.

Villa are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Mario Hermoso, who will be a free agent after his contract expires in June.

The Midlands giants incurred a £120 million deficit last season, according to their latest financial statements. UEFA claims this is the greatest loss in Europe during that period. According to PSR regulations, Premier League clubs can lose up to £105 million over a three-year period, indicating that Villa may need to balance their accounts.

Emery urges Monchi to table Aston Villa’s proposal for Reinildo Mandava.

Other sources in Spain suggest that they are looking for another cheap option for their backline. Emery has instructed Monchi to pursue an Aston Villa bid for Reinildo Mandava, who would be the first Mozambican player to play in the Premier League.

The versatile defender, who has played centre-back and left-back for Diego Simeone this season, has also become a regular in the Atletico squad since his recovery from an ACL injury in January.

Reinildo’s performances have caught Emery’s attention, and reports suggest he might cost as cheap as £8 million.
