Leicester City Set To Return For Defensive Target But Will Face Competition

Gabriel Pereira, a defender for Gil Vicente, is a target for newly promoted Leicester City, who will probably have to contend with a number of teams for his services in the summer.
The 23-year-old, who has appeared in 29 of Gil Vicente’s 32 league games, has been one of the team’s best players during an otherwise underwhelming season for Toze Marreco’s group.

Clubs from over Europe have taken note of his form and are keeping a close eye on his circumstances at the Portuguese club.

In January, Leicester City made an effort to capture the player by putting up a loan offer with a €5 million buyout option.

Gil Vicente, who was battling relegation at the time, disapproved of the transfer because they did not want to lose a crucial player in the midst of the struggle.

The Foxes will make a comeback this summer, according to Italian publication Tutto Mercato, however they won’t be the only team vying for Pereira’s signature.

Benfica and Braga in Portugal are attentively observing Pereira, while Lyon in France has been enticed by the Portuguese’s talents.

A transfer to England would be enticing for Pereira given that Premier League football is available at the King Power Stadium starting in the upcoming season.
