Fabrizio Romano drops Kalvin Phillips update at West Ham United as Saturday news emerges

West Ham will not sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips permanently due to a recent injury setback, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist claims that the choice was taken weeks ago and that he will return to the Etihad Stadium with the Citizens willing to consider alternatives.

Leeds United are believed to be interested in re-signing the England international because it is where he played his finest football.

Romano announced on Twitter that Kalvin Phillips will depart West Ham at the conclusion of the season, a decision made weeks ago.

“Kalvin will return to Manchester City, and the club is open to solutions, including interest from Leeds.”

“He’s now gonna be out due to injury.”

West Ham made a mistake bringing in Kalvin Phillips

Since going to the London Stadium, Phillips has struggled and is no longer the same player he was.

Given his recent injury setback and unimpressive performances on loan, not signing him permanently makes sense.

Phillips joined the Hammers in January from Manchester City, but his time there has been marred by injuries and a lack of influence on the pitch.

He only made a few appearances and failed to meet expectations, which most likely influenced West Ham’s decision not to pursue a permanent contract.

His fitness record remains poor, and it is prudent not to take the chance of signing him, as he would most certainly cost a fortune.

It remains to be seen whether he can effectively reignite his career, but the Hammers cannot afford to take this chance given their current problems.
