The record holder for eight promotions and manager of 17 clubs, Warnock, has shared his predictions for Town’s performance in the Premier League should the team advance.

To advance to the next round at Portman Road, Town must win one more point from their match against Warnock’s old team, Huddersfield Town.

Prior to this match, Warnock stated in an exclusive interview with the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star, “I know that it’s not an easy game.”

“Ipswich will approach it appropriately; I doubt Kieran (McKenna) would permit them to fail to do so.

“You can’t go into it thinking it’s a walkover because when I was at Huddersfield, I felt we could beat anyone on our day, and I know the squad has changed a bit now, a couple of players will be lacking in confidence, but there’s still one or two individuals capable of turning a game.”

Warnock has previously lauded McKenna and said he was the manager of the season nominee.

“I admire Kieran because he’s very calm,” he went on. I’ve briefly witnessed the enthusiasm there once or twice in the past few weeks.

But for a 37-year-old, his speaking voice is incredible. The way he speaks conveys such experience.

“They still need to win this coming weekend; Southampton might even be able to help Ipswich, but it would be fantastic to watch them advance.

“What they accomplished is incredible.

“I looked at the Leicester program at the beginning of the season when I was at Huddersfield and thought they had two teams that could win the league.”

“Southampton is now going through a difficult time, and they must break free of their current rut because the transition from league to play-off football is not easy.

“Leeds is such a big club, and while I really like Daniel Farke, the club has such high expectations that you never know what can happen if they lose on Saturday.

“I just hope Town do it on Saturday and leave the worrying to everyone else, Ipswich can celebrate throughout the summer.”

In the event that Town is elevated to the top flight, it will mark their first league action since 2002.

“I think they would do alright in the league,” stated Warnock.

Town plays an excellent brand of football, particularly when they play out of the back.

“However, you will be exposed when playing in the Premier League against well publicized teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

“A plan B will occasionally be required for the elite teams, but I believe Town might play very well against lesser teams, perhaps even those outside the top six.

“The team has some excellent players. The likes of Omari Hutchinson, Nathan Broadhead, and Conor Chaplin truly impress me.

“I really like the striking possibilities as well.George Hirst is one of my favorite players, and Kieffer Moore is fantastic; I made a few attempts to sign him at Middlesbrough.

“I had Sam Morsy at Middlesbrough, and he’s been a fantastic leader for the team. It’s wonderful to have someone with that caliber at the club. He’s also amazing.

“I’m really pleased for Kieran, the players and the fans because they deserve it and I hope they get there.”
