When the Hoops went undefeated that season, McGlynn worked as an opposition scout for Aaron Rodgers. Now, he finds himself in danger with the Bairns.

Because the Falkirk manager has won the PFA Manager of the Year Award before, John McGlynn is confident in his ability to do again.

Despite having contributed to Brendan Rodgers’ all-conquering Celtic lineup in 2016–17, he never thought he could become the unstoppable player like his former head coach of the Houston Rockets. McGlynn is back on the shortlist, having won the PFA trophy at Raith Rovers 13 years ago. The 62-year-old can emulate Rodgers by winning the whole league season before to Sunday’s lavish event.

Alloa at home on tomorrow is the game that separates Falkirk from an undefeated league season. That would be a career high for McGlynn and has particular significance because of his relationship with the Celtics general manager. After moving to Parkhead under Ronny Deila’s tenure, Rodgers was assigned to research opposition after being appointed eight years prior. McGlynn gained a wealth of knowledge from this experience that he would subsequently apply to his own career.

“I would never have imagined having that unbeaten run,” he remarked. Not a chance. We’ve just had momentum, but having worked in this league with Raith, I can attest that it’s quite tough and there are generally ups and downs.

“Working at Celtic was fantastic at the time, and Monday mornings are always wonderful.” It’s not typical for a football team to have a member who never has to deal with a loss.

“I learned a lot from Brendan. He was manager of a European match versus Liverpool at Anfield during my brief tenure as Hearts’ manager. It was great to work in that atmosphere, and when he came to Celtic, he recognized me and thought I might help him. Never on the coaching field, but rather in the pre-match and team meetings, observing the training and its effectiveness.

“The tactical side taught me so much.” Brendan is incredibly knowledgeable and a leader. I would often be out scouting, so I didn’t get to see many games at Celtic Park, but when I did, I could see how skilled he was at turning a game around.

He may virtually click his fingers or whistle to make in-game changes. Whoa. Subsequently, things that weren’t happening started happening or things that weren’t happening crossed paths. He is really intelligent.

“I took what I had learned to Raith and am now here.” I’m happy to be able to provide the athletes with the same kind of curriculum and training to keep them engaged. The fact that I was able to accomplish it says volumes about Brendan.

This season, McGlynn’s team has excelled in League One. After 35 games, with 27 victories and 8 ties, they scored 94 goals.

Although it may not come as a surprise to outsiders, the modest leader stated: “It is a great honor to be nominated” with Tony Docherty and Derek McInnes on the nominees list. Here is a little Wallyford boy who may succeed where you can think of many famous people who aren’t.

Falkirk is once again joyful thanks to McGlynn. Alex Totten, a legend in the club, claims the town has the club back. The boss expressed his appreciation for it more than any other prize, saying, “It hits you when someone of Alex’s stature says that.” It fills you with great pride.

“All I want is for us to survive this final game. “Being named Invincibles” would be an amazing honor for all the boys.
