‘I don’t care’: Ally McCoist now shares if Leeds can still finish second and predicts Ipswich result tonight

Ally McCoist has weighed in on the outcome of tonight’s match between Ipswich Town and Coventry City as well as if Leeds United can still finish in second place.

In light of the weekend’s events, Daniel Farke’s team is only just in second place after Leeds fell to QPR 4-0 on Friday. A disappointing outcome in a match that Leeds ought to be winning.

It gave Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich the opportunity to capitalise on Saturday, and they nearly did. Hull, led by Liam Rosenior, equalised in the 87th minute to hold The Tractor Boys to a 3-3 draw.

Leeds maintains its second-place standings as a result of the results, although Ipswich has a game in hand—they visit Coventry on Tuesday night. In order to surpass Leeds before the last weekend, Ipswich needs to avoid losing.

If Ipswich loses, both teams remain at 90 points, and Leeds gains momentum once more. In the event that Leeds triumphs at Elland Road this weekend, Ipswich’s performance against Huddersfield would not matter.

Ipswich has only won three of their last twelve games and is without a win in four. Tonight, McKenna’s team will most likely fall short against a formidable Coventry team that is playing with little pressure.

Ipswich will cross the finish line ahead of Leeds in second place, according to Ally McCoist, who spoke with TalkSPORT on 30 April, at 6:15 AM. The Tractor Boys will also get at least a point against Coventry tonight.

He also complimented McKenna for his work during the previous two years. This is what the renowned Scotsman had to say:

“It doesn’t matter what people think. Kieran McKenna has performed as well at Ipswich as anyone has in the previous two years. I genuinely believe they will understand. They will, in my opinion, cross the line.

“A truly amazing accomplishment, especially given how they go about it. Ipswich make for a great spectacle. McCoist stated, “I really believe they’ll win all four points and that they’ll win at least one of them tonight.

Tuesday night’s potential absence of former Leeds left-back Leif Davis would be devastating for McKenna’s team as he hobbled off during Saturday’s 82nd-minute draw with Hull.

Leif Davis absence could be felt by Ipswich on Tuesday night

This season, Davis has been amazing. He has scored twice and helped McKenna’s team score a whopping 21 goals with his great set-piece and crossing play. Before leaving Hull injured, he even received a helper.

This season, the defender has only missed three league games. Ipswich has only scored one Championship goal in those three games without the left-footed assist machine, so it’s hardly much to go on.

With him, Ipswich has scored 87 goals in the remaining 41 Championship games. More than two in a game, and Ipswich’s goal threat is significantly diminished if he is out against Coventry. Everyone is focused on tonight.
