Wilfred Ndidi has been linked to Everton for a summer transfer.
At the completion of the current campaign, the midfielder’s contract with Leicester City expires. Ndidi remained with the Foxes following their Premier League relegation. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the King Power Stadium team’s instant promotion back to the top division. After making 35 games this season, Ndidi has six goals and six assists. On Monday night, they defeated Preston 3-0 to win the Championship.
Ndidi, who assisted the Foxes in winning the FA Cup in 2021, is yet to commit to Leicester even though the team will return to the Premier League the following season. He’s going to leave as a free agent as things are.
The circumstances surrounding the Nigerian international have clubs on edge. Everton is rumoured to be interested, while links have been made to Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United.
According to reports from Belgium, Sacha Tovolieri, Everton may have already made Ndidi an offer in an attempt to go ahead of their competitors. “Free agent this summer, Wilfred Ndidi already received a proposal from the Toffees trying to anticipate the competition,” Tovolieri wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Although other clubs are already working on his case, the SuperEagle hasn’t decided where to go yet.”
In the summer of 2017, Ndidi left Genk to sign a £17 million contract with Leicester. He has made 271 appearances with the Foxes overall, scoring 17 goals. He participated in the whole ninety minutes of their 2021 FA Cup final at Wembley, when they defeated Chelsea 1-0.
The next season, Ndidi was rumoured to be moving to Aston Villa in a £50 million deal. But Brendan Rodgers, the manager at the time, maintained that he was worth “much more.” Rodgers declared at the time, “He’s worth much more than that.”
“You want to always keep a player with that calibre and mindset, but once you have him, he will always draw attention.”
