The Scottish government has issued a warning following Rangers’ and Celtic’s victories in the Scottish Premiership.

Keith Jackson joked about a Scottish Government warning after Rangers and Celtic both managed 2-1 victories on Sunday (April 28).

Philippe Clement’s side kept their title chances alive with a narrow victory against St Mirren in Paisley, while Celtic did the same against Dundee.

The Gers took the lead thanks to an own goal from James Bolton, but Mikael Mandron equalised just five minutes later, and Cyriel Dessers scored the victory late on.

Jackson wrote for the Daily Record on April 29th, sharing his thoughts on the title race while also making a public health statement for supporters.

He stated, “Of course, the Scottish government is currently dealing with a large number of issues.

“But, even so, someone within the mansion on the hill may have to take a minute over the next few days to ponder whether the time has come to issue a public health warning regarding this season’s climax to the domestic football season.

“Because, while neither Rangers nor Celtic appear to have the heart to finish off the job they started back in August, the consequence of their combined inadequacies can’t possibly be good for the old ticker.”

Did Rangers deserve to win over St Mirren?
By way or crook, the Light Blues secured three points as Dessers scored his 20th goal of the season.

Rangers dominated possession, holding 74% of the ball throughout the 90 minutes [FotMob]. They made nearly 400 passes, compared to St Mirren’s 142.

They were able to convert this control into chances, scoring an xG of 1.74 while the host team only managed 0.85.

This was accomplished through 20 shots, six of which were on target, including one missed opportunity.

St Mirren had their moments and, of course, scored to equalise the game, testing Jack Butland several times.

It was disheartening that Clement’s team couldn’t capitalise on their dominance with more than one badly defended goal.

With the title race in mind, the Rangers simply had to win, which they did.

In unrelated Rangers news, Women’s team manager Jo Potter was annoyed by Celtic’s delay before their Scottish Cup semi-final.
