Gueye’s goal in the Toffees’ 1-0 win over Brentford guaranteed they escaped Premier League relegation this season, despite being docked eight points for violating profit and sustainability regulations.
Gueye, who returned to Goodison Park from PSG in the summer of 2022, will see his contract expire at the end of the season. The Blues are apparently able to trigger a one-year extension.
Dyche was asked about the 34-year-old’s contract predicament during his pre-Brentford press conference. However, Everton’s manager has not confirmed if Gueye, who made 26 appearances in 2023-24, will play in League Four next season.
Dyche added, “He’s a player I have a lot of respect for, and I’ve made that obvious when I came here. Throughout my time here, he’s played on almost every team. We may have taken a gamble or rested him if he had an injury, but he is seasoned.
“He has experience playing at Goodison as well. He’s a good player, and he’s been quite effective since returning to the team.
Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young, Andre Gomes Dele, and Andy Lonergan’s contracts end in June, while Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma’s loan deals with Leeds United and Villarreal will expire.
