Roy Keane and Jill Scott took a shot at Newcastle United and Anthony Gordon on The Overlap.

Former Sunderland manager Roy Keane has criticized Newcastle United and Anthony Gordon.

Keane featured on The Overlap with Wearside-born Jill Scott, former teammate Gary Neville, and ex-England players Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher. Following the show’s chat with Anthony Gordon earlier this week, the Newcastle United winger became a topic of discussion.

Gordon expressed his desire to win titles during his conversation with Neville. He left his childhood club Everton for Newcastle in January 2023 for a cost of £40 million.

“Do you know what I asked him, by the way?” Neville mentioned anything throughout the talk. I said. ‘I couldn’t see why Chelsea and Newcastle both bid £40 million for you…’ I couldn’t understand why since he wasn’t that caliber of player.”

Keane immediately interjected, saying, “Yeah, but he went to a club that hasn’t won anything in 50 years, lads, so he isn’t that smart.” “He’s not very smart.”

Wright said, “Yeah, but he’ll attempt to assist them accomplish it. “He is the type of player who can assist them.”

Scott said, “He’s had a good season,” before Keane responded, “Yeah, but he’s still going to a club that hasn’t won anything in 50 years.” Scott said, “You can keep saying that for me… I’m a Mackem!”
