‘Gobsmacked’: Simon Jordan has just made an Everton takeover prediction, Moshiri set to ‘suffer’

Everton, despite having some truly pressing matters to attend to on the pitch, have still seen the recent narrative dominated by alternative distractions.

Things like trying to negotiate their acquisition and contesting PSR deductions never seem to make any real progress.

But among all of this chaos, one terrifying possibility has surfaced: management.

In recent years, the Toffees’ financial condition has drastically deteriorated to the point where Farhad Moshiri is no longer ready to contribute any money at all.

Thankfully, one commentator has attempted to refute such a serious implication.

Simon Jordan drops his 777 Partners verdict

Simon Jordan gave his usual scathing and ruthless assessment of Everton’s takeover possibilities while speaking live on talkSPORT this morning.

Still, he didn’t waver in his belief that the Toffees should go into administration when that possibility was raised.

First, regarding the Iranian billionaire, the former chairman of Crystal Palace observed: “Moshiri will suffer from that because he can’t get what he wants from it if he has to cut his cloth accordingly and the valuation of Everton has to come down to meet what people are prepared to pay.”

“There’s a cost for Everton, and Moshiri and the debt are determining that cost.” Thus, Everton Football Club will be purchased if Moshiri needs to have a haircut because suddenly 777 aren’t involved and someone else enters the picture.

‘And I would be gobsmacked, and I’ve said things before that have come back and haunted me, if Everton find themselves in the way of administration. Because there’s too much money around, there’s too many people that have secured that money in certain ways, and I expect Everton to come out of this with the football club intact.’

Everton set to avoid administration

Everton FC v Crystal Palace - Premier League

Although Jordan frequently harbours a strong dislike for Everton because of the terrible management the team has had lately, his presumption is accurate.

Ultimately, there is simply too much money involved in this game for the Toffees to possibly disappear, and if the price drops enough, there will always be a mega-rich substitute waiting to emerge.

There’s no better example of this than 777 Partners, who recognised the crisis the club was in and took appropriate action just in time to let Moshiri retreat into the background and stop making additional investments.

It remains to be seen if they take over, but at least this fan base can find some comfort in the fact that administration, or worse yet liquidation, seems a long way off as long as there is still a lot of money in the sport and plenty of investors who are probably eager to get in at a discount should the opportunity arise.
