Monchi may reconnect Emery with a player at Aston Villa for the third time – Villa’s finances may be important.

Aston Villa might be in the running for Tottenham misfit Giovani Lo Celso this summer, offering him a higher salary than other suitors to lure him to Villa Park.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Monchi admires the Argentine midfielder, who intends to leave Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

According to the publication, Lo Celso is dissatisfied with his lack of opportunities at Spurs this season and, afraid for his international future, intends to leave for a club where he feels at ease and plays regularly.

His current emphasis is on Spain, specifically Real Betis or Barcelona, with the former already making preparations to get him back, but Estadio reports that Monchi might derail that plan.

He was also interested in the midfielder during the January transfer window, stating that he ‘could pay him more at Aston Villa’ than Betis would in Spain.

He would also rejoin with Unai Emery, for whom he has previously played at Paris Saint Germain and Real Betis. In fact, he has made more appearances under the Spaniard than any other manager, scoring eight goals and assisting ten in 86 games.

Whether that, plus the possible extra money, is enough to persuade him to join Aston Villa is doubtful, since Estadio has stated that he prefers to return to La Liga this summer.

Despite this, Betis is leery of Aston Villa and any other English suitors, knowing that they may give more and make life tough for them.
