Oliver Glasner has now hinted that he could use one Crystal Palace player for the first time against Liverpool on Sunday.

Since taking over for Roy Hodgson in February, the Austrian has been adjusting to his new team. Against Bournemouth, he experimented with Joel Ward at centre back and even used David Ozoh in that position as he considered his alternatives.

Some players that Glasner hasn’t been able to start, such Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, and Cheick Doucoure, are still injured. However, there is a forgotten man who might play for Crystal Palace against Liverpool.

Oliver Glasner suggests he could use Jairo Riedewald for the first time

Well, Jairo Riedewald might play for Anfield on Sunday in his debut game under Oliver Glasner.

Due to injuries, the Dutchman has not played a single minute of football for the man from Salzburg since his hiring.

Riedewald has only made four Premier League appearances this season and hasn’t played since Wednesday, January 17th’s 1-0 FA Cup loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

On Sunday, though, the Netherlands international might have a rare opportunity to play.

The official Crystal Palace website quotes Glasner as saying: “Jairo is returning, but we don’t have any new injuries.” He worked out with us all week, and on Sunday he might be included in the squad.

Decision to make for Crystal Palace

With seven Premier League games left, Riedewald has timed his comeback to fitness well. He needs to show Crystal Palace how valuable he is.

The 27-year-old’s contract expires in July, and considering his lack of playing time this year, it is likely that Steve Parish intends to let him go this summer.

Therefore, if Glasner chooses not to play Riedewald in any of these remaining seven games, it will be a major way for him to close the 2023–24 campaign. It’s possible that Riedewald has already made his final kick for Crystal Palace.

Hopefully, the man from Haarlem can secure a new deal before July as he has consistently shown good performance when called upon and is somewhat of a fan favourite among Crystal Palace supporters.
