Green Bay Packers: Just a few days before the 2024 NFL Draft, trade rumors involving a star player have suddenly surfaced.

Green Bay Packers: Star Player Suddenly Has Trade Reports Circulating Just Days Before 2024 NFL Draft

There are eleven picks available to the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft. In the first three rounds, five of those eleven picks are located. With the option to move up in the first round if they so want, it is more than enough firepower to strengthen the club.

But rumors are starting to spread that the Packers might select yet another first-round pick. It would take the form of trading one of their star players this time.

Days before the 2024 NFL Draft, a Green Bay Packers star has reportedly backed down from trade reports.

Following this year’s draft, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox identified a few players who could be dealt. Star DT Kenny Clark of the Packers was one of them:

With one of the youngest rosters in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers are only beginning their postseason run. They might have to make some tough financial decisions after the draft, but they are not inclined to deal away talented young players.

Jordan Love, the quarterback for the Packers, received a one-year extension in May of last year, but he is currently in the penultimate year of his deal. Additionally, if they decide to replace a veteran, they have an incredible 11 picks in the 2024 draft and may throw numerous darts at a costly position.

Kenny Clark is a player to watch at defensive tackle. Clark has been with the Packers since 2016 and is about to enter the final year of his current contract, despite the fact that he won’t turn 29 until October. Given the recent four-year, $96 million agreement that defensive tackle Derrick Brown received from the Carolina Panthers, a third contract for Clark may be quite costly.

If a team in need of defensive line support, such as the Browns or Dallas Cowboys, misses out on that position in the draft, the Packers could be able to find a trade partner for Clark. Should Green Bay sufficiently replenish its defensive line, Clark might also be considered for cut.

The Packers could release Clark with a post-June 1 designation and save $17 million in 2024 cap space. Is Kenny Clark Up for Trade With The Packers?

Since being selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Clark has become a cornerstone of the Packers’ defense. But he’s actually 28 years old (he’ll turn 29 in 2024).

As his current contract expires in 2024, he will undoubtedly search for a new one following this season or even during it. Will the Packers offer a multi-year contract to a player who will primarily be under thirty years old?

Chris Jones, a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, is proof that you can perform at a very high level even at the age of 29. The Packers could decide to move on and carry on with this unofficial young movement, or they might want to keep Clark around for that kind of output.

2024 will be a pivotal year for the Packers and Clark.
