‘We suffered’: Sunderland midfielder delivers honest dressing room verdict after Leeds United draw

Pierre Ekwah, a midfielder for Sunderland, reacts to his team’s goalless draw with Leeds United at Elland Road.

Despite having to endure through much of the encounter, Pierre Ekwah believes Sunderland executed their game plan well in their goalless draw against Leeds United.

At Elland Road, Mike Dodds’ team only had thirty percent of the ball and frequently had to play defense. Nevertheless, the hosts were only able to muster one shot on goal, losing the opportunity to win the Championship.

Ekwah said, “Obviously they were, we were as well, but obviously they were playing to get promoted,” in response to a question regarding Leeds’ complaints. That’s a frustrating position to be in, especially since we actually stopped them well. We had opportunities, and their frustration is undoubtedly greater. It seems sense that the Leeds players and supporters were growing irritated. On our end, we performed admirably.

“Playing against those kinds of guys in a stadium like this is always an amazing experience. They were hard and we lost most of the time, but we followed our strategy and there were moments when it seemed like we might succeed.

With the exception of their 5-1 loss to Blackburn, Sunderland has maintained four clean sheets in their previous five games as a result of this outcome.

Ekwah continued, “We still want to finish as high as we can.” “We still intend to perform live for the audience. Simply said, I believe it’s crucial and we owe them. With the exception of the Blackburn game, we have demonstrated a solid mentality in the last four or five games.
