Andy Burnham is ‘more convinced than ever’ that Richard Masters is punishing Everton for one thing

Everton have every right to feel like they have been harshly treated throughout this PSR scandal.

After all, they were the first team in the history of the top division to receive two deductions in a single season when they were given the worst points deduction in November, even if it was later lowered on appeal.

Richard Masters has now extended his hand to the rest of the world, notwithstanding the absurdly harsh and disorganised way the Toffees have been treated.

It has been conjectured by many that the only motivation behind the Everton witch hunt was to thwart the efforts of an independent Premier League regulator. The fact that he wrote a post the day after attempting to defend his stance serves to confirm this theory.

Luckily, a lot of people have seen through his flimsy, obvious attempts to win over the public.

Andy Burnham fumes at Richard Masters

Although Andy Burnham has never been a huge admirer of Masters, things are only going to get worse with this most recent ruling.

After all, a wide range of well-known figures in the media, including politicians and former athletes, have voiced a great deal of complaints.

And in defending Everton, they all appear to reach the same conclusion.

After deducting two more points on Monday after initially being given a six-point penalty, the Premier League has now stolen eight points from Sean Dyche’s team for what appear to be relatively minor infractions.

The ire was only heightened after Masters wrote that article, which has spurred the Greater Manchester Mayor to take action once more.

revealing that this emerges the day after the @premierleague has thrashed @everton – AGAIN, he writes.

“More convinced than ever that our nearly 150-year-old club is being used as a pawn in their public relations campaign against an impartial regulator.”

The Premier League aren’t even hiding their anti-Everton bias

They are killing us'... Andy Burnham has just sent passionate message to the Premier League

The CEO of the Premier League took a blatantly insensitive stance when he frantically published a statement urging people to reject the independent regulator the day after his group demanded that Everton receive an additional five points deducted.

The decision’s lack of consideration was so glaring that it revealed their genuine motivations for creating this PSR drama.

It’s clear that Masters has been using Nottingham Forest and the Toffees as scapegoats for his own agenda.

Luckily for him, they had also broken the regulations, so he could at least partially hide his real intentions.

To many, though, this makes no difference.

This latest display of hubris in a Times article serves as the last straw, and one hopes that the appointment of an impartial government regulator will result in him being publicly chastised for failing to prevent this outcome as well as for applying undue harshness to the two teams mentioned above.
