Jeff Shi responds to Hammers’ loss and debatable ruling

Jeff Shi reacts to Hammers defeat and controversial decision

Even though the team narrowly lost to West Ham United this season, chairman Jeff Shi has praised head coach Gary O’Neil and his players for their accomplishments.

Tawanda Chirewa was controversially judged to have impeded Lukas Fabianski in the Hammers’ goal, meaning Wolves were denied a late point at Molineux after Maximilian Kilman’s stoppage time equalizer was ruled out for offside.

Shi expressed regret with the outcome and choice, but he was also full of admiration for the team’s campaign-long efforts. But he asked the bodies that oversee football to consider how to make the game better for players and spectators.

Shi declared: “We are all rightfully very proud of Gary, our coaching staff, and all the players for the fantastic job they have done this season, especially considering the circumstances, with many contentious decisions from match officials impacting the outcome of our games.”

“With eight games remaining, we surpassed last season’s points despite a summer of change and four days of preparation for Gary and his staff.” We would be far further up the table if it weren’t for several bad or controversial decisions.

“The club may always keep learning and improving every season, but we have no control over the caliber and consistency of refereeing. Other obstacles include injuries to key attacking players and squad depth.

“When a goal is scored and no one in the stadium, not even the match officials, doubts the legitimacy of that goal, including both sets of players, coaches, and supporters, It’s time to ask yourself if football really needs or wants someone to remotely deny that goal.

In order to preserve the competition’s integrity and show why the Premier League is thought to be the greatest in the world, we really hope that the Premier League and PGMOL would acknowledge the significance of resolving these issues.

The team “will keep pushing hard, along with our fans, to take on every remaining game with the passion and determination that has made this team a success, and one that we’re proud to support,” the statement reads.
