Everton attacker ruled out v Newcastle, another star now doubt

According to the Daily Mail, Arnaut Danjuma will be absent from Everton’s Premier League match against Newcastle on April 2nd, while Vitalii Mykolenko is also doubtful.

Both players will probably miss the trip to St. James’ Park, according to the newspaper’s print version [2 April, p. 61], which also revealed that the host team is terrified of their injury problems.

After not playing for the Toffees since the end of January, Danjuma is still sidelined due to damage to his ankle ligament, while left-back Mykolenko is also questionable due to illness.

With Danjuma making just five Premier League starts this season, Sean Dyche has had to adjust without the Dutch international for large portions of the campaign. However, Mykolenko has been an almost continuous presence in the lineup and is probably Everton’s only left-back specialist.

Because of this, the Toffees will probably start tonight’s match against Newcastle in a 4-2-3-1 configuration, with Ben Godfrey starting at left back in place of Mykolenko, and Beto leading the line ahead of Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Jack Harrison.

Premier League injuries have impacted the Everton team news.

For Everton, a victory in 13 games is long needed. It will be harder for them to test Newcastle wide without Danjuma and Mykolenko’s attacking capabilities at St. James’ Park, but there hasn’t been a better opportunity to play the Magpies in the last two seasons.

Following their victory over West Ham, Newcastle’s captain Jamaal Lascelles became the latest casualty on their long list of injuries.

Anthony Gordon, a former Toffees winger, is suspended after being sent off during stoppage time of the same game, and if Dyche’s team can take advantage of their improvised defence, Newcastle might be theirs to take.

Everton has been plagued by late goals lately, giving up four in injury time in their last four games. However, with Beto scoring goals reliably while Danjuma is out, this could be the game in which the Toffees finally break through in 2024.
