Paulo Bernardo might be acquired by Celtic for a “huge” sum of money, according to reports.

Celtic have ‘huge’ plan for Paulo Bernardo as £20m+ deal on the cards – sources

According to insiders who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic want to develop star Paulo Bernardo while he’s on loan in order to sell him for a high price.

The 22-year-old Bernardo came to the Hoops during the summer on a loan from Benfica, where he will play out the season before having the option to buy for £6 million.
Celtic is thought to want to make the move permanent this summer because they think he can become a player worth more than £20 million, which would bring them a profit of up to £14 million.  Football Insider has been informed by reliable sources that Celtic executives think the Portugal under-21 international has “huge” potential that can be realized at Parkhead.

After a sporadic start to the season, he has since entered Brendan Rodgers’ plans. Before Christmas, the offensive and center midfielder made just two league starts. Since then, he has started nine times for Rodgers, scoring two goals and providing two assists. In addition, he scored in the Scottish Cup fourth round matchup with Buckie Thistle in January and participated in every game during the Hoops’ group stage campaign in the Champions League.

Regular for Portugal’s under-21 team, Bernardo recently led his team to a 5-1 victory over Croatia in their Euro qualifying match on Tuesday, March 26.
In January, Rodgers disclosed that the team is certain they can afford to fund Bernardo’s long-term relocation during the off-season.
Rangers, who are Celtic’s main competitors, are only one point behind them in second place with a game remaining.
Their next road match is scheduled for Sunday afternoon (March 31) against Livingston.
