Dan Bardell moots Aston Villa deal for int’l star, they signed ‘Fantastic’ player from his club

Exequiel Palacios summer transfer mooted amid Aston Villa links with Bayer Leverkusen

Dan Bardell claims that Aston Villa might be able to sign Exequiel Palacios this summer by using their prior connections to Bayer Leverkusen.

On February 2, Christian Falk, a journalist for SPORT BILD, stated on Felizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that Villa is viewed as a “hot prospect” for the Argentine international when the transfer window reopens.

He said that the Villans had already acquired two attackers from the Bundesliga team, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey, but asserted that Manchester City and Newcastle United were also interested in the 25-year-old midfield player.

As Unai Emery looks to bolster his squad at Villa Park, Bardell thinks that signing someone from Germany would be a “hell of a lot cheaper” than bringing in another midfielder from a Premier League team.

Bardell stated exclusively to Villa News that he believed the team needed an additional central midfield player. When McGinn is not playing in those offensive wide positions, it is such a loss, and prior to his ban, he had to fill the void in central midfield.

“I do believe that, given the new Champions League format, they will want more choices than they now have if they are in the competition. Villa will, at the at least, be in the Europa League the next season, which would be an improvement.

“Given that players there have Bundesliga and European experience, I do believe the German market is a fantastic one.

With the exception of Bayern Munich, however, the German teams are not extremely wealthy. It will be far less expensive to purchase someone similar to him than to purchase someone in the Premier League.

Villa has been successful in the Bundesliga because Leon Bailey is playing well, and I still believe that Diaby will develop well. Villa certainly has ties to Leverkusen as well, which may be advantageous.

Because we don’t know what competition Villa will play in or how much money will be available, it is quite impossible to estimate how they will do in the summer.

“It will be intriguing to observe the outcome, as they will undoubtedly require additional exceptional players in their roster if they make it to the Champions League.”

Could Exequiel Palacios be signed by Aston Villa?

Villa may have trouble signing Palacios this summer considering how well Leverkusen has played in the Bundesliga thus far this year.

As Bardell notes, however, they do have a history with the German club, and they might try to use it against some of the other contenders.

Considering that Leverkusen’s successful season has all but assured them a spot in the Champions League, it appears that they will need to at least qualify for that competition in order to have a chance.
