West Ham plot swoop for Everton star Amadou Onana with 28-year-old set to leave

Amadou Onana, a midfielder for Everton, is once again a target for West Ham ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Before moving to Goodison Park in the summer of 2022, Onana, 22, was on the verge of signing a contract with the Irons.

Onana was once the choice to sign for West Ham, but the deal fell through, and he ended up moving to Merseyside.

Nevertheless, David Moyes’ team is once more interested in signing the Belgium international, as Everton finds itself in serious financial difficulties following two infractions of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

In the summer transfer window, the London team will be looking to add a new center-midfield player.

After a dismal first season with the club, Kalvin Phillips is now on loan at the London Stadium and is not anticipated to sign a long-term contract with West Ham.

One of Everton’s most valued assets, Onana is under contract with the team until June 2027.

For the Merseysiders, he has made 29 appearances in all competitions, starting 25 of those games.

Two years ago, Everton reportedly paid slightly over £33 million to acquire Onana.

He participated for the Red Devils in the World Cup in Qatar and has 11 caps for Belgium.
