Everton: Ally McCoist and Andy Townsend slam Nathan Patterson after ‘poor’ Scotland incident

Everton defender Nathan Patterson has been slammed by Ally McCoist and Andy Townsend on talkSPORT.

It comes after Scotland fell 1-0 against Northern Ireland, with the right-back giving up the game’s only goal.

At Hampden Park on Tuesday, March 26, Patterson lost possession inside his own box before Conor Bradley scored.

McCoist stated on talkSPORT, “When I say it was a poor goal to lose, it was a brilliant finish from Conor Bradley.” “I believe Nathan Patterson tries to swerve around the corner and into a potentially dangerous area.”

“In his own box,” Townsend interrupted. “Yeah, in his own box, intercepted and brilliantly finished,” McCoist responded.

Everton man Nathan Patterson has disappointing night at Hampden Park

After a humiliating 4-0 loss to the Netherlands in Amsterdam on Friday (22 March), Scotland was well-prepared for their international match against their neighbors, Northern Ireland.

Right-back Patterson for the Toffees was starting by manager Steve Clarke at Hampden; the defender had previously started against the Netherlands.

However, shortly after the half-hour mark, the full-back played his way into serious difficulties, much to his boss’s dismay.

The Northern Ireland players around him in an instant, and Bradley, a star for Liverpool, picked up the ball and curled it into the top corner.

At the national stadium, that was the end of the scoring, and Clarke now needs to gather some momentum before Euro 2024.

Now that he’s back at Goodison Park, Patterson is eager to support Sean Dyche and the team in their Premier League survival struggle.
