Bruins React To Emotional, Physical Hard-Fought Win Vs. Panthers.

The Bruins and Florida Panthers have met three times during the regular season, with Boston winning each time.

Boston’s 4-3 win on Tuesday night was the most physical of the series, with 90 total hits, two fighting majors, and five roughing penalties.

Brad Marchand, the Bruins’ captain and 5-foot-9 forward, faced off against Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola, who is 6-foot-5. The smaller Marchand going head to head with Mikkola sent a message to Boston’s bench.

“I believe there were a lot of guys playing for each other today and winning battles.” Pavel Zacha told reporters, “Seeing guys fighting for each other,” according to team-provided footage. “It was amazing to see your captain go up against someone like him. It’s encouraging to see everyone enthusiastic about winning tonight. Every shift like that, we won battles, and we need to play like that more often.”

Zacha now has six game-winning goals for the Bruins, tying him with Marchand for the team lead this season.

“It was an important win for us,” Zacha remarked. “We know Florida is a really good squad. I believe it was a playoff-like game. Winning those is critical for us to build the game going ahead.”

Marchand was not the only Bruin that engaged in tough play against the Panthers. In the second period, defenseman Hampus Lindholm got into a brawl with Sam Bennett, his first major of his NHL career.

Lindholm stated, “There was a lot of battles out there, but I think we really stuck to it there,” according to team video. “Playing those games was enjoyable, as they are likely to be seen in the future. It was an emotional game; we won, and it feels great right now.”

Lindholm believes the Panthers’ aggressive game will only assist the Bruins down the road.

“Those are the games where we stick together as a team,” Lindholm explained. “I think we did an excellent job with that. Getting the win and holding them off in the end was extremely important.”

With the win, the Bruins moved two points ahead of the Panthers in the standings with nine games remaining in the regular season. Boston will seek to capitalize on their triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night.
