Sunderland have made a social media announcement that speaks volumes about the fans

Sunderland have recently made an announcement on social media that says a lot about the fans.

This season appears to be going down as one of the least memorable for Sunderland.

The Black Cats need a few victories to hold onto their title of Champion for another season, since they are all but eliminated from the competition for the top six.

After ending a run of six consecutive losses with a dull, goalless draw against QPR last time out, Mike Dodds’ team is now winless in their previous seven games.

With eight games remaining in the season, the Black Cats have a challenging schedule ahead of them, which includes travels to Leeds United and West Brom in April.

Sunderland travel to Leeds United in the Championship

Sunderland’s final eight games of the season will see them play six of the current bottom 12 opponents.

Dodds will be looking to string together a few victories, close off strong, and establish a favourable tone for what should be a more successful 2024–2025 campaign. It’s a very gentle run-in.

On April 9, they will travel to Elland Road on a Tuesday night to play title-chasing Leeds United, which is perhaps their hardest matchup.

Although the Foxes still have a game in hand, Daniel Farke’s club has now passed Leicester City on goal differential. Ipswich Town, who is in third place, is only one point behind both teams.

Sunderland sell out Leeds ticket allocation

Sunderland have made a social media announcement that speaks volumes about the fans

On March 13th, nine days ago, tickets for Sunderland’s trip to Elland Road went on sale.

Additionally, the Black Cats declared on Thursday that 2,900 Sunderland supporters had made the trip to Leeds after the tickets for the trip to Yorkshire had sold out.

Thus, Sunderland supporters persist in supporting their side in large numbers despite a season that appears certain to end in failure and a squad that struggles to win games or score goals.

It says volumes about the supporters, particularly considering that the Leeds match takes place on a weeknight.

With an average attendance of almost 41,000 per game, Sunderland’s historic Stadium of Light has the greatest average attendance of any team in the Championship this season. Sunderland fans are among the most fervent and well-traveled in the league.

Additionally, Sunderland has a strong road record. According to a survey conducted earlier in the season, Sunderland has the highest average away attendance in the Championship this year (3,334).

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that 2,900 Leeds tickets have sold out.

Despite a season filled with setbacks, highs, and lows, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and company will be grateful to have a group of devoted and devoted followers.
