Trai Hume has won the Northern Ireland Player of the Year title for 2023.

Corry Evans, Hume’s club captain and fellow Northern Ireland international, presented him with the trophy at the Academy of Light.

The 21-year-old got the award as a result of a public vote after earning eight caps for his nation in the previous year.

The full-back will return to international action in the coming fortnight, facing Romania and Scotland in friendlies.

Interim Head Coach Mike Dodds stated, “If Trai continues on his current course, he will join the Premier League. That’s how good I believe he is.

“When it comes to full-backs in this league, Trai is unquestionably one of the greatest, if not the best, and I don’t believe there will be many disagreements about that.

“To come from Linfield to where he is now, he has been an unbelievable find for the football club and he has a big future in the game.”
