Although Amad doesn’t always get the playing time he deserves, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes he has the ability to win a game.
The former Sunderland loanee beat Liverpool 4-3 in the FA Cup final minute of extra time thanks to a thrilling winner, but he was then given a second yellow card for removing his shirt.
Both in January and the summer of last year, Sunderland attempted to re-sign the 21-year-old, but United refused to approve the agreement. Amad has only made two Premier League appearances off the bench since recovering from a knee injury in December, but ten Hag says he’s been happy with the player’s performances in training.
“Despite his training performances, he does not always receive the playing time he merits. However, when he does play, he contributes by scoring a goal. However, we are confident that he has the crucial moments to win or lose a game.
“I’m glad he emerged victorious. However, we had another substitute, Antony, who equalizes the score. He is likewise in a difficult situation, but you can see that he is fighting and trying to help. I’m rather pleased with the bench right now.”
