Liam Scales Celtic injury leads to Republic of Ireland withdrawal as defender fails to recover in time

During the international break, Liam Scales will not play in either of the Republic of Ireland’s friendlies.

The Celtic defender did not play in the Premiership match against St Johnstone this past weekend due to an injury he sustained during training, according to manager Brendan Rodgers. He was included in the Ireland interim manager John O’Shea’s roster for the matches against Switzerland and Belgium.


However, Scales failed to recuperate in time, and as of right now, RTE is reporting that he will not play in either of the games. Troy Parrott Parrott, a striker for Tottenham on loan at Excelsior in the Netherlands, has also withdrew. He is one of the players who is unable to report for international service and has missed two Eredivisie games.
According to the sources, O’Shea has not requested any replacements, but Following the young team’s match on Friday, Joe Hodge and Andy Moran, a duo for the under-21s, will join the senior camp.
In the meantime, Gavin Bazunu, Caoimhin Kelleher, Mark Travers, and Brian Maher of Derry City have been invited to train with the goalkeepers.

Adam Idah, a striker for Celtic who is on loan at West Brom, and Mikey Johnston are both included in the squad.
