‘Incredible’: Brendan Rodgers says there’s one Celtic player who is ‘a nightmare’ in training

Kyogo Furuhashi, a Celtic striker, was praised by Brendan Rodgers following his outstanding performance against St Johnstone on Saturday.

The Japan international, who did not make the roster for Hajime Moriyasu’s squad during this international break, will remain in Glasgow.
Although Kyogo’s goal scoring output hasn’t quite approached the heights of the previous two seasons, the Celtic striker was in a defiant attitude following his wonderful message to the Hoops supporters this morning. This was evident in his performances in the last two games.

Additionally, Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, recently showered Kyogo with adulation, calling him “a nightmare” to practice against.

Rodgers stated [in the Daily Record], “We can leave him alone to do what He performs at his best and gets us goals. He is an excellent young player.

He has been one of the team’s top two or three players for the past two years.

It was fantastic for him to return against St Johnstone and perform as well as he did, and I’m happy for him too.

In training, he is a complete nightmare to play against. Every Saturday when I see them, I feel awful for the defenders because I understand precisely how they feel.

“He contributes a great deal to the squad off the ball as well. The same applies to Daizen [Maeda]. They both run themselves ragged. When you look at their running stats following a game, they are amazing.

“They are aware that they receive the gain from doing the defensive actions. After we win the ball high, they can go ahead and score. That was the kind of goal we scored against St Johnstone when Jamesy [Forrest] won the ball up high.

Kyogo will undoubtedly be crucial to Celtics’ championship defense. This season, the striker has obviously had trouble adjusting to Rodgers’ approach, but he now appears to be back to his best.

The supporters of Celtic will be hoping that Kyogo can be a nightmare for the opposition in these games, not just against his teammates in training, as Livingston and Rangers are away following the international break.
