Everton: Alan Pardew hits out at PSR news in rant against Premier League live on talkSPORT

Alan Pardew says the potential PSR points deductions Everton and Nottingham Forest are facing is a complete “farce”.

This week, Forest will find out if they will lose any points for breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations.

In the upcoming days or weeks, Everton could also receive a second points bonus, which would completely alter the composition of the league table.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on March 17, at 8:19 p.m., Pardew said, “Who knows what will happen?” when informed of the impending news.

The entire financial window is a bit of a joke. It’s not actually working to accrue the losses you’re supposed to.

“I’m aware that they plan to name a new foreman, and hopefully that will happen soon.

“Leicester City has numerous issues with financial fair play while being second in the Championship.

“Anything that occurs to them will eventually come up, or more accurately, fall out. All of this other crap is not what we desire.

I believe that the regulations are the issue. It seems like we’ve formed a cartel for the best teams and let the rest fight it out for seventh place, and I say this without prejudice.

Everton and Nottingham Forest awaiting PSR charge verdict

There is no problem having rules in place to stop teams spending well beyond their means. After all, we live in a day and age in which there has been serious talk of a Saudi club offering £200million to Liverpool for Mohamed Salah.

The January window appeared to be a turning point for Premier League clubs in which they realised they can no longer just throw money left, right and centre.

Sean Dyche looking annoyed.

Under Sean Dyche, Everton has not been playing well this year.

However, it is very absurd that Everton and Forest were found to have broken these specific PSR criteria. One such issue is that the losses you are able to record have not increased in tandem with inflation.

In fact, this summer’s rule changes by the Premier League will bring it closer to UEFA’s current regulations. The league is essentially acknowledging that the existing rules are unsuitable.

And yet, both Forest and Everton will probably still lose points. It is best to remodel these PSR regulations as soon as possible.
