Former Rangers defender Nathan Patterson centre of Everton training camp row after manager’s ‘clumsy joke’ goes wrong

According to reports, Scotland defender Nathan Patterson and Everton manager Sean Dyche got into a strange altercation at a Portuguese restaurant during training camp.

After losing to Everton in the FA Cup, Dyche made the decision to take his team to Quinta do Lago, a resort in the Algarve. Everton is not playing this weekend.

As to the Daily Mail, one evening during dinner, Dyche’s fun slap on Patterson’s head caused some players to become unimpressed, allegedly causing tensions to flare between the manager and the team. According to reports, James Tarkowski, the captain of the team, escorted his boss away from the table and then came back to apologize to an embarrassed Patterson.

Under Dyche, Patterson has found it difficult to establish himself in the Everton first team. Club insiders have stated that the incident involving the former Rangers defender was a “clumsy joke” that went wrong. Patterson is scheduled to train with the Scotland group next week. After returning to the UK, the Toffees are currently fighting for their relegation and won’t play until March 30 against Bournemouth.
