A Sunderland supporter comments, “Hasn’t really done a great deal,” on the January signing.

“Hasn’t really done a great deal” – Sunderland fan pundit makes statement on January addition

During the January transfer window, Callum Styles joined Sunderland on loan from Barnsley.

Callum Styles joined Sunderland late in the January transfer window.

The Hungary international inked a loan agreement with Barnsley that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has only made four Championship appearances since joining the Black Cats (all stats from Fbref), indicating a challenging transition.

Sunderland has an option to acquire Clause as part of their arrangement with the League One club, although the value for the transfer is unknown.

However, given Styles’ disappointing start at the Stadium of Light, perhaps he will reconsider making it a permanent stay with the club.

Sunderland fan pundit provides Callum Styles’ transfer opinion.

“To acquire him on loan for such a short period of time, that’s the thing with loans, especially this late in the window, they have less than four months to establish themselves, which can be difficult.

“So I’m not a huge fan of things like that.

“Right now, if you asked, I wouldn’t be that concerned if he left.

“I’m not sure what the charge would be, or anything.

“We could still see something bright from him, but he doesn’t appear to be a magnificent footballer.”

Sunderland’s league position

Championship Table (As it stands March 13th)
Team P GD Pts
9 Middlesbrough 37 1 53
10 Preston North End 37 -6 53
11 Cardiff City 37 -6 53
12 Sunderland 37 3 47
13 Bristol City 37 -1 47
14 Watford 37 1 45
15 Swansea City 37 -12 43
16 Millwall 37 -12 43

Sunderland’s recent play has put them out of contention for a top six spot in the Championship.

The Black Cats have lost their last six league games in a row, dropping to 12th in the rankings. With nine games remaining, the team’s chances of qualifying for the promotion shootout appear to be slim. The next game for Mike Dodds’ squad is at home against QPR on March 16.
