Graeme Bailey believes Nottingham Forest may be interested in signing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson this summer.

Forest will look to address their goalkeeping position again this summer, as Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos appear to be on borrowed time.

According to Bailey, the Sunderland goalkeeper may be one of Forest’s transfer targets.

This may be an interesting one, as a number of clubs are interested in signing Patterson from Sunderland this summer.

The goalkeeper progressed through the ranks at the Stadium of Light, making 113 senior appearances.

According to HITC Insider Graeme Bailey, Patterson is expected to be on Nottingham Forest’s radar during the upcoming transfer window.

He said, “We know Liverpool is also scouting around for prospective new signings.

“Anthony Patterson of Sunderland is another player who I believe is on the Forest’s radar, and many Premier League clubs are interested in him.

“Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are looking at him, he’s homegrown and he’s a very good keeper so keep an eye on him as well.”

Who is Anthony Patterson?

The 23-year-old is largely regarded as a future Premier League standout.

Last season, Tony Mowbray praised the goalkeeper as “amazing” after his performance against Fulham in the FA Cup.

Patterson is familiar with Nottingham, having made 11 loan appearances for Notts County.

Patterson’s exceptional concentration is his main strength, according to Who Scored. There are no significant shortcomings to notice.

Patterson could demonstrate quality for Forest.

The Reds’ first priority will be to stay in the Premier League, but after that, they will be on a mission to find a new goalkeeper.

Matz Sels has done well since joining the club, but he may not be considered as a long-term solution between the posts.

Turner and Vlachodimos have not been successful, and both players could be released this summer.

Sels will continue with the club next season, but an upgrade as a number one is possible, and Patterson might be the right candidate.

The player would assist Forest satisfy their homegrown requirements, and at 23, he could establish himself as the City Ground’s number one for many years to come.
