Chelsea chances of beating Man Utd, Arsenal to Newcastle forward soar after injury derails Aston Villa raid

Chelsea has expressed a sincere interest in signing Newcastle striker Callum Wilson as a result of an Aston Villa transfer going awry, and TEAMtalk has discovered that Wilson’s representatives are working feverishly to arrange a trade.

The Blues hope to bring a genuinely elite striker to Stamford Bridge in 2024, but a summer transfer for a top-tier talent may be necessary.

Given that Chelsea is prepared to allow Armando Broja go this month, Mauricio Pochettino needs a temporary replacement to last until the following campaign.

To that purpose, Chelsea weighed up Aston Villa’s intriguing new attacker, Jhon Duran.

The 19-year-old Colombian is reportedly amenable to a transfer that would result in more playing time, despite the fact that he is currently well behind Ollie Watkins in the Villa Park hierarchy.

Matt Law of The Telegraph confirmed on Wednesday that Chelsea was thinking about making a move. Reliable reporter Ben Jacobs later revealed Duran had been discussed behind closed doors at Stamford Bridge.

But Duran’s injury was really inflicted in the closing seconds of Villa’s 0-0 draw with Everton last time around, according to manager Unai Emery.

Duran’s injury, which is thought to be a hamstring strain, will keep him out of action for a few weeks and, according to Jacobs, has also eliminated any possibility of him signing with Chelsea.

“The last action against Everton he was injured,” said Emery. “For the next weeks he’s not going to be available.”

Jacobs reported on X in response to Emery’s update: “Injury likely to prevent a Chelsea move having discussed Duran internally, although no approach to date made anyway.”

TEAMtalk’s own sources later confirmed Duran to Chelsea is 100 percent off.

Callum Wilson to Chelsea?

Since joining Newcastle in 2020, Wilson, 31, has averaged just under a goal every other game (46 goals in 102 games).

He and Kieran Trippier will not be leaving St. James’ Park this month, Newcastle has openly stated. TEAMtalk has been informed by sources that an exit is a real possibility.

The player’s representation have reportedly made offers to Wilson to Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

In addition, Newcastle has set an internal asking price of £18 million for the seasoned forward, and they would consider accepting a higher offer.

It is widely believed that a move WILL occur before the deadline of February 1st, since Wilson’s agents are making every effort to obtain a move for their client.

Wilson has a solid track record in the Premier League, but his age and inconsistent injury history do present clear challenges for any purchasing side.

Wilson’s departure from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal is a very serious possibility this month due to the teams’ acute need for a consistent goal scorer.
