The Dallas Mavericks had a 23-17 record going into their game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.

Considering all of the injury difficulties Dallas has faced this season, the squad has had a great 2023–24 campaign. Among the Mavs players ruled out of Monday’s game was Luka Doncic.

In light of the unpredictability surrounding injuries, head coach Jason Kidd talked about Dallas’ performance thus far this season.

In his words:

“I think with all the injuries it’s unclear… It’s not fair to judge this group yet with all the injuries.”

“I think we’re setting a franchise record here this afternoon with a different starting lineup.

But we can’t complain, every team is going to go through it.

But I think the character of this group, you can judge. We’ve always bounced back after a tough game.”

Dante Exum and Derrick Jones Jr. were both ruled out of the game on Monday. The good news is that Dereck Lively II, who was absent from Saturday’s game, was available before tip-off.

For the entire season, Lively has been a crucial member of Dallas’ team.

Still, Monday will be without Doncic, Jones, and Exum. Later, Kidd made remarks about the Mavericks’ capacity to prevail even when they were without important players.

“When you consider the availability of Kai, Luka, and Lively, you consider their availability…Many of our men have been absent for more than simply one or two games.

Doncic, Jones, and Exum won’t be there on Monday nevertheless. Kidd later talked about the Mavericks’ ability to win even without key players.
