Rangers will be actively seeking new players during the January transfer window.

Although Rangers’ transfer market is officially open, they haven’t made any acquisitions thus far, and

supporters will be hoping that will change. Their season has taken a turn for the better under manager

Philippe Clement, who has guided them back  into the Scottish Premiership, won the Viaplay Cup, and

advanced to the Europa League’s round of  sixteen.

Nevertheless, in his first full transfer window, Clement will be looking to add players to support

his pursuit of both European and domestic trophies.

Josh Doig is not going to be signed by the Rangers. Early in the transfer window, there were several

rumors circulating that the Scottish full-back would be moving from Hellas Verona to Ibrox, with Verona

attempting to sign Ridvan Yilmaz on a loan from the Gers.

According to updates, Yilmaz is reportedly heading to Italy for a £3 million deal, which has opened the

door for Doig to leave. Additionally, since Borna Barisic is expected to receive a new contract offer from

the team, a full-back will have the opportunity to effectively challenge the Croatian, something Yilmaz

hasn’t been able to do for the past 18 months. However, Doig is now expected to head to Marseille in a

£4.3 million deal, according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer expert asserts that Rangers were never in

the running for Doig’s services.

Lawrence Shankland’s prospective move to Ibrox appears to be a losing struggle elsewhere on the field.

This week, reports surfaced that Hearts intend to extend an offer to Shankland in order to ward off

interest from Govan and other English suitors. With Cyriel Dessers still pending a medical clearance,

Danilo and Kemar Roofe sidelined due to injuries, and Sam Lammers loaned out following a horrific

spell, there is room in the attacking department.

Right now, Shankland leads the Scottish Premiership in goals scored, and his Jambos performances are

unlike anything else in the elite division. However, whether

He acknowledges that whether or not Rangers can sign him for a new contract will be crucial to their

hunt, particularly since he only has 18 months left on his present contract and they may sign him for less

money in the summer.

Outside of Europe, Rangers have been linked with a deal for Oscar Zambrano. The Ecuadorian

midfielder, who plays for his native team LDU Quito, has been linked to Bournemouth this transfer

window. Because of the Cherries’ connection to the capital team, there has been talk of a possible loan

move to Hibs. However, rumor has it that Zambrano has been linked to Rangers and Celtic because his

transfer to the Premier League is on hold due to signing-on fees.
