Douglas Luiz ‘gives away’ Aston Villa team news amid Pau Torres injury concern
Pau Torres, an Aston Villa teammate, has disclosed his injury status, according to Douglas Luiz.
Douglas Luiz, a midfielder for Aston Villa, appears to have leaked some team information ahead of Friday’s Premier League
matchup with Sheffield United, revealing that colleague Pau Torres is sidelined.
Pau was hoped to be cleared for play after limping off late in the 2-1 victory against Brentford, but it appears that’s no longer
the case. Pau was previously merely an injury doubt.
Luiz, in a rather bizarre fashion, was asked about the defender’s condition by a fan during a Twitch stream and he admitted
there would be no appearance from Pau on Friday. “Pau is injured. He’s not ready for Friday,” Luiz said, prompting a slight meltdown from Villa fans and Fantasy Premier League players alike.
If Luiz is correct, Pau will be greatly missed as he hasn’t missed a single league game this season and has played for all but 31
minutes on the pitch. Ezri Konsa going from right-back to center-back and Matty Cash moving from the right flank to the
full-back position would probably have an effect on the team selection.
Meanwhile, if Unai Emery would rather have a left-footed player replace him on a like-for-like basis, there is also
