Everton have ‘knocked on door’ of agent to sign striker in January – Has release clause for easy transfer

Ahead of the January transfer window, Everton has “knocked on the door” of the agency for Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia, as the Italian team is eager to sell.

Sport del Sud, which is quoting Il Mattino, claims that Everton is one of the teams that have communicated with the striker’s agent.

According to the newspaper, Salernitana must “raise cash” by selling players in order to be able to participate in the January transfer window. Dia is one of the players they may consider selling.

One team that has “already knocked on the agent’s door” to get information about the player, whose current price tag is set at €22 million, is Everton.

Since the summer, when he appeared to go on strike in order to join Wolves late in the transfer window, the striker has been connected to a move abroad.

It didn’t, and he had to leave the club for a while before the matter was settled and he came back. However, this week, the club president reopened the situation by announcing that he would sell to anyone who didn’t want to be a member.

Those comments came alongside a report explaining that Dia now has a clause in his contract allowing him to join a Premier League side for €21m should one make a bid.

Thus, a transfer could be easy to do for Everton should they wish, although it is highly doubtful they have €21m to spend or would be allowed to do so given reports they are sailing close to the wind in terms of acceptable losses once again following their 10 point deduction this season.

It is unclear whether Salernitana would pursue a loan deal given their own financial need, but one would think that it would make far more sense and be more financially feasible.

In any case, Everton is said to be still searching for the player they were supposedly interested in last summer before deciding to sign Beto from Udinese.
