Everton, Leed Burnley ‘monitoring’ former Derby County defender

Leeds United, Everton and Burnley are reportedly monitoring former Derby County defender Archie Brown.

The 21-year-old, who began his career in Derby’s minor systems, plays for the Belgian team Gent. In 2021, he departed the

Rams to play for Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland, but in August, Gent moved quickly to sign him.

As per Mail Online, English teams, along with those in Serie A and the Bundesliga, are showing interest in him.

The manager of England’s under-21 team, Lee Carsley, is reportedly keeping an eye on him as well.

Brown, a left-back by trade, has made 21 appearances for Gent this season in all competitions.

He has played in the UEFA Europa Conference League on six occasions. Prior to being sidelined, he was an important member of the Belgian team and is presently recovering from an injury.

Left-back has proven to be a problematic area for Leeds in recent years.

A long-term injury for Stuart Dallas has deprived the Whites of an option, while Junior Firpo has struggled for form

since joining from Barcelona over two years ago.

Although Pascal Struijk has appeared to be far more at ease in the center of defense, Leo Hjelde can play there and does not

seem to be in Daniel Farke’s near plans.

Sam Byram has shown promise when used in the position, but he recently had another injury.

Djed Spence was selected to start as left defender in the recent loss to Sunderland.
